Threesday 10

Track 1 Artist: The Doors Title: Peace Frog Download Here This is still one of my favorite Doors tracks and is taken from the excellent Morrison Hotel album. Track 2 Artist: Djum Djum (Leftfield) Title: Difference (Steng Mix) Download Here I once walked into my local record shop, World Beats and saw this 12 inch record in a brown sleeve with a large white hand on the front. Back in those days I always judged a book by its cover - and I was'nt disappointed! Track 3 Artist: Portishead Title: Roads (Sultan & Tone Depth Mix) Download Here Just came across this one on Soulseek and thought it was quite good. Another Threesday favorite group in the mix.

Proper MP3 Blog anyone?

Does any of the members fancy kicking this into gear and making some regular posts of Mp3 files? We can host them over at FileLodge who will host the files forever up to a maximum of 300mb per signin. And, also, as we can put direct links to the files, we could then get listed at places like The Hype Machine. Thoughts people? I currently post 3 tracks a week and that is probably enough. We are not looking for lots per day, but 10 a week from various posters would be cool.

Threesday 9: Trippytych

Cripes - already made it to Threesday 9! Nearly getting to over 30 tracks now. I intend to do a "best of Threesday" CD at some point so watch this space. Another triptych of difference here guys. Fast, Slow, Didgeridoo... Track 1 Artist: Kenichi Sugiyama Title: Buggie Running Beeps Download Here Something a little faster for Mr Nox. Part of the soundtrack to the game Rez on the PS2. It takes me back to playing the game immediately! Maybe because it is the first track - on the first level - and I didn't get much further than that! Sorry - just noticed that this is a WMA file so appologies if you get issues running it. Track 2 Artist: Nomads Of Dub Title: Spirals Download Here Wow! I have got very little dub on my iPod at the moment but came across this track on a compilation by Alex Paterson of The Orb fame. Real laid back spacey dub - for when you really can't be bothered to do any more work. And its only 10am. Track 3 Artist: Outback Title: Animal Life Download Here I had the fortune to see this band live several times in my younger years. In their guises as Outback and Dr Didg. The guitar on this track was an inspiration to my playing for quite a while. All tracks can be downloaded from the same Threesday 9 project page here. Deep vein memory regression and past life therapy has revealed that the memory of these files will be transient in their methodologies and will only be hosted at Savefile for 14 days. Sendmefile has been eradicated from the Music Club by the use of Electro shock therapy and will no longer be used due to too many errors. Savefile.com will keep these files online forever - providing they have at least one download every 14 days! And I can now also see how many people are downloading the files too! So I can tell how popular they are!

Threesday 8: Goldies

Track 1 Artist: The Verve Title: Bitter Sweet Symphony (UNKLE Remix) Download Here In an attempt to wean my son of Steps and S Club Juniors I whacked on one of the music video channels the other day and watched the whole video for this track which I have not seen all the way through before. I have also had this UNKLE remix of the same track, which i found through Tyoogle sitting around for a few weeks too - so here you are! Track 2 Artist: Suns Of Arqa Title: Acid Tablas Download Here Acid indeed! Dub meets irish indian takeaway in this old track. Still sitting on one of those old busted up cassettes i still have somewhere. Excellent stuff! More to come chaps! Track 3 Artist: Dead Can Dance Title: Fortune Present Gifts Not According To The Book Download Here Now this group takes some getting used to. Fronted by some geezer called Bernard and Lisa Gerrard who also sang on the sountrack to Gladiator, Dead Can Dance are an odd hybrid of ambient, choral, medieval folk stuff. I will break you in gently with this track. Nice and melodic. I recommend the album, Aion and also The Serpents Egg. The official inquest into The Music Club instigated, lead and proceeded over by George Bush found that all files will be held only for 14 days by SendMeFile. After then they will be sent to play golf. As long as nothing more important comes to interrupt them.

Threesday 7: Influences

Back on my Threesday 2 posting, I was yapping on about a bloke who influenced me musically during the so called "important" years of my life. Again we travel back in time up the windy wooden staircase to his attic bedroom amidst the skateboards, army surplus clothing, rave flyers and the smells of wholefood cookery. This guy knew about stereos. He had separates when I was still bugging my parents for a tape-2-tape system and he had an ordered queue of records waiting to be picked and played as we smoked and laughed the school summer holidays away. These were not records you would find in your local Our Price. Well. Not for a few years at least. Dance music was on the way up and a local small record shop that dedicated itself to selling this rare vinal was in big business. Making trips to Rough Trade in London to pick up the latest tunes was not uncommon too, which also usually involved skateboarding at the South Bank. To this guy - the music really mattered. Times were good and I was in with the right crowd. Here's a selection of the music he played me: Track 1 Artist: Depth Charge Title: Depth Charge Download Here Kung Fu breakbeat at its best - and a good few years before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon too! It was a toss up between this track, "Dead By Dawn" (Groaning Zombie Breakbeat) and "Bounty Killers" (Spaghetti Western Breakbeat). Damn those Ninjas to hell! Track 2 Artist: Izit Title: Stories Download Here My first venture into a "Jazz/soul type" affair was with this track. If i remember rightly, this is only a portion of the full track but it could have been the person who did the mixtape for me cutting the A and B side together. Who knows? Slow and clean cuts for a lazy summers sunday morning. Put the coffee on luv! Track 3 Artist: Derrick May (Mayday) Title: Nude Photo Download Here Now then.. apparently this minimalistic track is hailed as one of the best techno tracks of all time! A track that lead to the forging of a new music style in Detroit and the growth of the electronic music revolution. But on my 12" upstairs, slowly warping in the loft... its a B side to "Strings of life" which would be a total travesty if the rumours are true! It still totally reminds me of sitting in my friend Pete's house smoking when we were supposed to be working on our college course artwork. Ah fuck it! here's the other 2 Depth Charge tracks. I have just been listening to them and they are too cool to be omitted from this Threesday - so you get a Fivesday instead! DTGTF! Download 3, get 2 free! Increase the bass por favor! Track 4 Artist: Depth Charge Title: Bounty Killers Download Here Track 5 Artist: Depth Charge Title: Dead By Dawn Download Here My lawyers have asked me to mention that these files are hosted for 14 days over at SendMeFile. After then they will be taken to the local public toilets and flushed. Expect to see them dancing down a sewer pipe near you sometime on the 20th September!
